Why We Do It
One out of six Americans needs food assistance, but can't get fresh produce from the local food pantry, while, millions of American homeowners grow more food in their backyard gardens than they can possibly use.
It Doesn't Have to Be This Way!
AmpleHarvest.org envisions an America where millions of gardeners eliminate malnutrition and hunger in their own community using only their backyard gardens.

9/11 Still Hurts. You Can Help America Heal.

Idea for today, September 7th.

Gardeners can help feed neighbors in need
"The attacks on America killed thousands. Millions are still hurting - including those impacted by the economic consequences we suffered."
On August 27, the President of the United States, in his weekly address, called on Americans to pay tribute to the lives lost on 9/11 by finding a way to do service within their own community.

Today, September 7, you can help backyard gardeners and other growiers in your communiuty learn about the opportunity to donate their excess garden produce to a local food pantry.
  1. Print this two sided flyer for garden shops and take it a local garden shop or nursery. Ask the manager to post it at a conspicuous location such as near the cash register.
    1. The same flyers can also be taken to local hardware stores and "big box" stores that sell garden or hardware supplies
    2. You can also put the flyer up at community bulletin boards such as in your supermarket, house of worship, health club, school, etc.
  2. Print this two sided flyer for gardeners and take it your library, town hall or community center. Ask permission to leave them where other "community event" flyers are often displayed
  3. Print this two sided flyer for CSA's and take it a CSA pickup location or even your community farmers market. Ask for permission to post the it at a conspicuous location.

  4. It's that simple.
