Our 2010 survey of AmpleHarvest.org registered food pantries indicated that an estimated six million pounds of locally grown garden produce had been donated to local food pantries. Preliminary results from 2011 indicate more than 21 million pounds of food donated!
"Within one hour of registering Community Resource Center on the AmpleHarvest.org website I received a call from a local family of four with 10 orange trees."
- Community Resource Center Food Pantry, CA
"I can tell you how much those who utilize the food pantry enjoy the opportunity to take home some fresh produce. The turnips were flying out the door yesterday. Yes, that's right. These are the same turnips (except these are organically grown) that sit unloved in the grocery store produce section. Keep that fresh produce coming. It's good for the whole country because healthier people means less money going to the hospitals."
- Newport Food Pantry, RI
"AmpleHarvest.org has been a huge benefit to our partner agencies and has really helped getting fresh fruits to those in need."
- Feeding America of San Diego, CA
"We have been trying to find a good way to communicate to gardeners which food shelves they can donate to. I think ampleharvest.org is the missing link we have been looking for."
- Second Harvest Heartland, MN
".. [our food bank] has sent your website and produce offer out to us....I do have to say 'Hot Diggity!!'"
- LIFE Food Pantry, Loveland OH

What Makes Supporting AmpleHarvest.org Unique

You can donate food or money to a food bank or food drive for an "eat once" contribution of a can or box food.

Or you can contribute to the AmpleHarvest.org Campaign to create a sustainable and recurring opportunity for local growers to share their harvest with neighborhood food pantries for many years to come.... greatly magnifying the impact of your donation.

While our message has been that gardeners can help their neighbors in need by reaching into their backyard, you can help the AmpleHarvest.org Campaign by reaching into your back pocket.

Personal donations, corporate grants, trusts and endowments all enable AmpleHarvest.org to diminish hunger, improve nutrition and help the environment by moving information instead of food around America.

Any contribution, large or small, one time or recurring will help AmpleHarvest.org enable local growers to diminish hunger across America.

In addition to supporting AmpleHarvest.org, you can help diminish hunger in your community by finding a local food pantry and giving this flier to them. Any food pantry not listed on AmpleHarvest.org represents local food lost to the community.

First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move Campaign encourages everyone to eat healthy food. Author Michael Pollan's Food Rules encourages people to eat "mostly plants". TV personality Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution urges people to "eat well". For one out of six Americans however, healthy eating is beyond their means.

Your contribution however, enables fresh garden produce to get to millions of people in communities across America

Only three years old, the AmpleHarvest.org Campaign enables 5,130 food pantries (and growing) across all 50 states to become "visible" to local garders eager to share their excess garden bounty with the needy in their community.

Your contribution to AmpleHarvest.org helps many more gardeners donate food to more food pantries in thousands of communities across the United States. Growers nationwide are taking the AmpleHarvest.org "no food left behind" pledge. Help make sure there is a place for them to take that extra food to.

Thank you.
